OSHA extends comment deadline for chemical hazard RFI

Washington – OSHA has extended to Oct. 9 the comment period on its request for effective and efficient approaches to address hazardous chemical exposures in the workplace.

Last year, OSHA issued a Request for Information on chemical management and permissible exposure limits. The original deadline for comment was April 8.

Many OSHA PELs are decades out of date and are no longer considered adequate to protect workers. The agency is looking for new ways to reduce occupational chemical exposure, including alternative approaches such as hazard banding.
